Mixed Media Canvas Tutorial – DT Project by Vrajangna
Hello crafty people out there, Vrajangna here with a wonderful product from imaginations.
Imaginations has recently launched its magical mica powder with are so awesome to work with so many mediums and forms.
Today i would like to show you a mixed media canvas i prepared with magical mica and few papericious chipboard, TCW and memory box stencils.
I started with a canvas board; i placed the heart stencil and used art basics’ texture paste over it using a palette knife.
Allowed it to dry and then i used distress inks and water brush to spread the happy colours.
Once the colours dried i again placed the stencil over it and daubed versamark watermark ink over the stencil.
Later i removed the stencil and i used my brush to apply the magical mica powder (crimson red, mystical gold and blue gold)
The best part is that the magical mica powder will stick only to the stencilled area where versamark ink is there. I daubed random areas and you can see the magic how shiny the hearts are. Totally loved the effect.
I left the canvas to dry and i took an embossing folder and applied versamark ink on one side of the folder and placed my black cardstock and passed it through my die cutting machine.
Once embossed i applied mystical gold mica powder over it and the embossed areas were left black and rest were covered with mica powder giving an antique effect.
I rolled the black cardstock to make a tube and also cut a half circle and folded it to form a cone which i layered on top of tube.
I used the left over wires from my mulberry flowers and twisted two wires till i got the desired length and then i covered it with green floral tape to secure it tight.
I cut a circular black cardstock equivalent to the size of the tube inserted the wire and twisted it from inside to hold it tight and assembled the cone, tube and wired circular cardstock to form a water gun.
I took papericious sigma cardstock and used flower die to get the die cuts to form a flower.
I used zig clear brush colours to form flowers of various shades.
I layered up the layers from big to small and added a contrasting bead in the centre.
I used spellbinder foliage die for the leaves and also spellbinder holiday die for the vines.
I used Twinklets diamond dust and glossy accent to cover the tips of the leaves.
I took papericious chipboard cut it to my requirement, daubed it with versamark and used blue gold and pearl white mica powder for the shinny effect.
Once i was ready with my flowers, water gun chipboards, i started layering them on my canvas.
I started by placing the water gun on one end and placed the flowers in a curve in a way they are coming out from the gun.
I used my silhouette cameo to cut my quote “you colour me happy” and coloured it using zig clear brush colours.
For the quote also i used a script stamp i had and used versamark ink for stamping and used mystical gold to sprinkle over it.
Here is the final canvas i ended up with
Few close ups
I sprinkled papericious sequiens at the end and two butterflies.
Hope you all will like it and friends do experiment with mica powder its wonderful.
